I remade an old wardrobe into a kitchen, em, dresser? Paint, three new shelves, a piece of wire mesh, a cut-out, and voila!

Clever, quirky, and practical, with a healthy dose of retro-chic. I like it!

Well done, and thanks for sharing your handiwork, irishrose.

Very tasty job on that wardrobe, love it. I have on old supervalu locker that needs updating and tis is the kind of thing i have in mind....Where did you get the wire mesh and what kind of paint did you use?
Great job, might get me going on one of my long list of projects ha ha

Snowdaisy - I got the wire mesh at Woodies. It's supposed to be used for making pet cages. They sell it in 3x2 metre pieces, I think. The paint is just wall paint with a coat of water-based varnish over it. I sanded the piece pretty well and tacked it off, then just painted it with a decent-quality brush. It's been a while now and the paint is holding up fine.

I love what you have done with this, very clever. I'm just wondering, how did you cut out the hole for the wire mesh?

Nitro - had I been in possession of a jig saw I might've attempted the cut myself. However, it was cheaper to take the door to a wood place (Interwood) and have them do it instead. I marked an outline, they cut along it.
