I got this wardrobe from dublinwaste.ie about a year ago. I only finished it recently. It's not spectacular - but a lot of work went into it - as it was very old and scratches were very deep.

Sometimes I think 'Spectacular' is misused, this is a beautiful, timeless, classic piece that will still beautiful for many years to come. This is a poster piece to show those who think freecycling is a bit hippy.

the picture with the door open reminds me of The Lion, The Witch and The Wardrobe, it wouldnt look at all out of place in a stately home

Beautiful.
That took a good many sheets of sandpaper without talking about all the elbow grease.
Well done a beautiful piece of furniture to treasure.

Well done Hackytza!

I am seriously impressed you could make a living out of bringing new life to furniture. You did a lovely job of your children's bedrooms, the marble effect table and fire surround and now this! How do you find the time?

Take a bow!

Hello Coby,
I have used satin clear varnish. I have never used waxed as I am not really familliar with it and I have never restored furniture in my life before last year when I started collecting furniture for our house; So - I don't know if varnish is better than wax or the other way around :-)

Hi again coby12,

If you want it really shiny - you will probably have to use gloss clear varnish, and not satin. Mine is not as shiny as it looks in the photos. Is just that the sun is shining straight on it in the morning and that's when I took the photos.
Regards. :-)

Thanks for info, just sat down after finishing waxing another door, I think I will stick with the wax, because it does not drip everywhere, just hard work polishing after wax has dried in.

Hey coby, don't forget to show off the results on the forum.:-)

Thanks everybody again for all the good words - it's really a great encouragement to keep going and start a new project.
