Addiction to Jumbletown

Hello Jumbletown community

I find myself checking Jumbletown a lot, wondering if I got what I asked for and what is available now. I find it is very addictive and to be honest, I am beginning to get a little worried.

Do anyone else feel the same way?

Greeneyes

maufant 13-05-2009 04:49 PM

Yes Greeneyes definitely very addictive, but a good way to make new friends & dispose of surplus clutter

paprika 13-05-2009 05:11 PM

Yes, it is extremely addictive... :D

Sabrinabray 13-05-2009 08:51 PM

I love JT and all my friends on it!

summersun 13-05-2009 09:02 PM

Ha Greeneyes, ADDICTIVE is not the word.... its worse than that,

In my life before jt, i would happily be off to bed before 9pm, but thanks to my husband telling me about a site he came across, i have made some amazing friends although i have met only one , i have been given some wonderful bits and pieces that i never knew that i wanted as well as some things that i had a wanted add out for .... bed time has gone out the window, the kids, husband and housework are neglected as i keep being reminded FREQUENTLY... it can be nearly midnight now and i still havent a dish washed as i am pming back and forth to various jters...

BUT I LOVE IT, and i love trying to picture what people look like from their jt names, i wish we could have our photos by our user names...

How about that for an idea ChrisP...

hope that answers your question "green eyes...

Addiction to Jumbletown

Hi there Greeneyes

Yes, it is totally addictive! No housework being done, no dinners being prepared, deprived of sleep, food, etc. The whole family are worried, they're seeking counselling! Even the poor dog is getting worried. She might never be fed again!!

But what a great community!
Thanks to all, especially to Chris & co. for having such a great idea.

Cheers,
Katga.

keno 15-05-2009 09:29 AM

Hi all. Thanks to jt i've made lots of people happy ,especially my partner . Why you my ask?????? Well before JT i was addicted to EBAY, oh yes now thats dangerous. So not only am i saving a fortune and him lol ,i've made lots of new friends, keep the post office /postman busy, cleared out my attic, shed, etc .So all don't worry about the addiction, we could be doing worse !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Phoenix1 18-05-2009 08:20 PM

Hi there, I have to say I soooo agree with this. I only discovered this site at the weekend and I have hardly done anything else since... I cant walk past my laptop without 'just checking' it and that turns into at least an hour... It's totally fascinating... The excuse I have given my other half is that we really need to do a big clear out and I'm just 'researching' the best way to get rid of it!!!

I'm really going to have do do the clear out now though and thats a reeeallly scary thought!!! I am a terrible hoarder, as is hubby, and we have bred another one!!!! We've moved house about 7 times in the past ten years and im sure there's still stuff in boxes from the first move...... HELP!!!!!!

jenniferalan 25-05-2009 09:29 PM

haha thought I was the only one!

If being addicted means checking in every night to see the wonderful restorations, the great green tips, the videos and reading the poetry left by others not to mention checking out stuff for others etc then YES I AM ADDICTED and I have a list of people I want to meet before I head to South Africa. Party coming up in August folks - any addicts willing to travel to Cavan?

Mmmm, now you've started me thinking about a poem.... Come on ahead to both sure we don't mind. I have my suspicions you'd go down well in both places. I'd have a fellow poetry (or limericks) appreciator!!!! Now back to that poem mmmm...

Oh there is going to be a party in Cavan
And I will have what bluecurlygirl is havin
We will get drunk and have a ball
Will have to be careful not to fall

We are all JT addicts, loyal and true
We love being here and having a goo
We will all party and have a good time
And perhaps have a peek online

We will dance the night away
Until the sun comes up on a new day
Then we will take to the bed
With headache tablets for the head

bluecurlygirl will lead the show
New people she wants to know
We will have to wear a badge with our name
Worn with pride and not with shame

The badge will say "I am a JumbleTowner"
I am never on a downer
My JT friends are the best
They recycle all the time and never rest

Well well, setting the standards high aren't we. Excellent job. I'll have to work hard at this one now!!! ;-)

bluecurlygirl 04-06-2009 11:48 PM

Don't despair - help is near

Oh those who read this thread know the story well,
logged in through the night until the dawn chorus knells
Cos the crack is going ninety and the slaggin is alarming
And the wisecracks and the poetry are really very charming.

The restoration projects whether big or small
Are a source of amazement, inspiration and awe.
The bmw, the boat, the hats, the quilt - far too many to mention
And I hope those skilled folks are eternally proud of their wonderful creations.

The craft links are deadly - magiceight you are to blame
for my children sometimes being neglected & my house it is a shame...
but thanks to you and to all the jters who jumped to my assistance
With crafty links, projects & instructions to decorate my house for Christmas (I know it doesn't rhyme - poetic licence ok?!)

And the wonderful advice on living green - who could miss out on that?
Whether you want your bins filling slower or your compost going great (poetic thingimy again)
Tips on ways to help yourself strive towards self-sufficiency
and yes that includes a way to make your own electricity.

As well as all the above-mentioned traits there is also the green tube
Which keeps us amused for several hours - in fact it'd have you glued.
There's nothing better than sitting back with all the lights on dim
Watching and hearing how beautiful our planet is in that little piece of film.

And of course it's always nice to get something on here too
or give something away to someone who needs it way way more than you.
And to meet a fellow jter is always really exciting
because the community here is full of cheer and sound so inviting.

The community here go out of their way to get something to somebody else
In fact in several cases they're a postal relay service in themselves!
The spirit of the members in something really special
And the friends you make along the way - even if they're virtual.

Well the time has come to make a stand and stand I certainly will
For being addicted to jumbletown gives me such a thrill.
And if being addicted to jumbletown is a serious "illness"
then I hope that it turns out to be something contagious.

And so I come to the point of my ditty
(and please excuse it if it wasn't too witty!!)
That the time for action is coming near
For all jumbletowners to say loud and clear
"We're jumbletown addicts and proud to be here"

And so a meeting is being arranged for a weekend
Towards the end of the summer - probably late August weekend (exact date to follow)
For any jumbletowners who want to be virtual friends no more
A party will be had and you can shake your shimmy on the floor.

And you can wear a badge, a hat or a crafty thing or two
And maybe let us guess who you are from some little "clue"
And I'd love to meet as many of you as I can before I go to African Skies
And have some fun and frolics and basically the time of our lives!

Party

There's a party in Belturbet
for all Jumbletown addicts...
It will be a blast
There's no doubt about it.

To Bluecurlygirl,
we can say "Bon Voyage"
as she sails to adventure
'neath African skies.

We will meet other addicts
who surf night and day
and maybe we'll meet
CHRIS P and DAVE!!!

Milky_moo 08-06-2009 06:22 PM

My tuppence worth -( or maybe my 1c worth after reading your poems n here already!! lol)

JT
Last thing at night, when the kids are in bed
A familiar thought comes into my head
Turn off the telly, and turn the lights down
Turn on the computer to check Jumbletown

Is there anyone out there, who has something I need?
Kids Jerseys, some books from this generous breed?
Got a kitchen, some wardrobes, a table and chairs
Thank God for JT or I’d be saving for years!!!

I try to give back things that people might like
Saying ‘time to de-clutter, now get on yer bike’!
The banter, the kindness, the poems and the craic
With the big ‘R’ around hope they don’t want the stuff back!!!! (LOL)

Now print out a poster, and bring it to work
Hang it somewhere important, where you know people lurk
The more we have on here, the less waste there’ll be
To you it’s just rubbish but it’s treasure to me!!

It’s nice to be giving – to help people out
So if you’re in need, just give JT a shout!
Thanking givers and takers, Chris P and Dave,
Who are brill in their task to make sure we behave!

Sabrinabray 08-06-2009 06:56 PM
