Get compressed wood logs, think there called maxi therm, I find them great to burn, long to last, good on price, get hard wood logs not soft wood, once they're 'dark' looking they should be good, the 'lighter' compressed ones burn very quick, there's also hexagonal small logs with a hole in centre, these also burn very quick, also found strogs not very good. I've been burning the maxi therm for a few years in a stove and get great heat out of them, you get into a system of how to light them quick and then keep them going.its also a bit cheaper to buy in bulk,

Hi Lisa after lots of reserch we have decided to go for the Esse greenswitch multifuel insert stove, as it will heat up to 10-12 rads & water and not be too overpowering to our small sittingroom also it was less hassle to have done.

re stove
ahhh thank you for getting back to me re stove...thats brillant to know cause our sitting-room is small aswell and we were looking at a hercules stove but we thought it would be too hot to sit in front of it...best wishes lisa x

purplerain -- last year I bought from local hardware in Bailieboro, year before I think was leinster pellets, but there prices went up last year, am actually pricing around at the moment for logs so will let you know when I find what seems to be the best price, am also looking for a stove boiler myself, on a budget, but am looking at a stove called the Shannon, its 21 KW and puts about 5kw to room and 16 to water, its more to heat the rads and water in the wintertime, we have solar panels for water in summer.
