hi all, If you like making things from pallets why not add them here for everyone to see.

kilk 06-09-2009 02:06 PM

i wish you luck with this endeavour!
most pallets are machine stapled and some are extremly difficult to seperate, also the wood is not treated and will rot in no time if not properly sealed.

just my thoughts, i tried it!

Hi,
Good luck with your project! Oh, and I'm not being sarcastic, I really mean it.
You could also make garden gates, rabbit hutches, chicken coops, dog kennels, etc.
Although the timber is not pre-treated you can re-cycle waste oil from your lawnmower, car, quads, tractors etc, to paint the wood hence waterproofing it.
I've done that with my garden fence and it makes it lovely and dark, you can also mix the oil with creasote substitute 50/50, for a darker mix.
Would love to see photos to see how you get on, and as I said earlier.....Bon Chance!

cascade35 06-09-2009 04:25 PM

I will treat the wood, waste engine oil now thats a good one, might try that!

If the weather is good tomorrow i will make a start on it.

wheelbarrow 06-09-2009 04:55 PM

Using pallets

Tapping the timbers apart will not work, the boards will crack and break.
I punch the heads of the nails in first and then pries the boards apart with
a bar with a bend at one end to remove the boards even

cascade35 07-09-2009 12:40 PM

Thanks wheelbarrow for the advice, i got the job done today, im quite happy with the result.

It was not too difficult, some of the timbers did crack but i still used them, adds to the effect i think.

kilk 07-09-2009 12:51 PM

well done!

tigerlilly.100 07-09-2009 01:03 PM

Go on ya good thing!

biker chick 07-09-2009 02:30 PM

Looks fab well done!!

Philomena6196 07-09-2009 02:42 PM

Oh fair play to you. I am useless at such things and i really need some fencing to lock away the rabbits while giving them some space as they are coming into the house aned eating through my wires!! But i dont like locking them up.

Mmmmm i wonder will i give it a bash?

cascade35 07-09-2009 02:58 PM

go for it! if you can get pallets, just take your time and dont worry if some timbers break, you can still use them as i did.

Plus your making something for your garden so it doesent have to be 100%.

Thanks all for the positive feed back.

Got to look out for more pallets now.

Gormal 07-09-2009 03:13 PM

That's great. Well done. It's fiddly work getting them apart.

You could probably make a table too, to go with your bench. And if you have a jigsaw, maybe a trellis for your climbers in the garden. Or a little feature like a wishing well........ just some ideas!

cascade35 07-09-2009 03:26 PM

I am getting rid of the climbers, we have just moved in and ive the whole garden to take care of, not sure what im going to do yet,

Yes a table is a good idea thanks

Hi all pallet lovers.. Check this out. I made a headboard out of pallets.
Also completley floored the attic. For this I recomend 'Dulux paint palets'. Reason is they are only slatted on one side and the two support beams 'as I call them' just happen to fit very snugly inside the joists. Because of this I had very little cutting to do. bloody marvelous lol.
have fun Pallet lovers everywhere lol.

Super! The headboard looks wonderful. Great job - and flooring a whole attic? Mega...well done

cascade35 09-10-2009 10:49 AM

Endless options

Pallet club sounds like a good idea, the headboard is spot on, ive made some flower boxes also, must upload a photo.

pallet club

Forgot to state the obvious. If pallet wood is to be used inside the house remember to scrub well with bleach and water first.!!

thanks for the thank yous.

ps. something completely different. 8 years ago I dismantled completely two cookers, one electric and one gas. You would not believe how many usefull bits you can get from this....Toughened glass doors - which I used for extra windows in garden shed. Countless nuts crews washeres bolts, handles, cooking trays which people leave in them which you can't buy separately. The list is endless.

Pallet sheds

I had a look at the first site. The Pallet Club would love it!

cascade35 10-10-2009 05:35 PM

collected 6 pallets today, not all same size, not even sure what i am going to make yet.

garrazzaband 10-10-2009 06:46 PM

Club Pallet.

Dulux pallets can be found anywhere which deals in Dulux paint. Eg. paint shops, hardware shops, wharehouses etc. Always look for the cleanest and 'intact' ones that you can find. I used to drive a ford escort estate ,they could carry about 6 in one go. I always politely ask the store if I could have "one of them 'ol pallets' outside the back of the shop. They normally say yes.

happy palleting.lol

sparkwell 10-10-2009 10:20 PM

I am seriously impressed with what you have been able to make with pallets Garrazzaband and Cascade 35 - well done! We have been thinking of making a small decking area with some pallets and your work is inspiring. Those websites posted with the sheds are amazing. Thanks for sharing!

Regards

Sparkwell

Well lads, I think I may have run out of ideas about what to make next. So I'd better go out and get a couple more pallets and go make that ultimate and final DIY item..time to make the coffin lol, lol. Keep smiling.

Hi there, Pallethead here lol. ordinary pallets are slatted both sides and the slats are spaced out. Dulux Pallets are slatted on one side only and the slats are close together -hence great for furniture- look closely at my chest project.
It's all good lol.

hello Maria, I did mention in one of my mailings before that you find them anywhere that they're selling, storing or transporting Dulux paint. However because I've only got a pallet for a head and I find it hard to get around this site sometimes, lol, my replies could be anywhere lol.

Glorious day today, was down the beach, wonderfull. And you know what, I stood there on the beach and wondered, just for a moment....a boat made from ******* nah, couldn't or....,,,could we? lol
