Bedroom chairs and blanket box

Another project I worked on for my friend. She was given this 50 year old blanket chest but didn't like the colour so we did a quick re-upholster job, added a new tassel to open, and she is delighted with the result.

The two chairs are ones we worked on over a while. Unfortunately I don't have before pictures as my friend was doing the painting and I was brought in for the upholstery. The material we used was got for free and is about 30 years old. The chair with arms was dark brown with upholstery that was almost like carpet! It looked like it was from a pub or restaurant. The other chair was like the standard 'teachers' chair from older times, we added some foam and fabric to make another bedroom chair. It is amazing what a coat of paint and some fresh fabric can do to revitalise an old item.

Lovely job. the paint has a nice finish to it and the upholstery is fantastic. Great talent. I especially like the chair with the arms. Looks better than could be bought new.

chairs

Yes, the chairs came out very well. The little chair with the arms is my friends pride and joy--probably because it was her first up-cycling project. It has place of honour in her guest room:)

Thanks to all for positive comments. I put them up to encourage people to look at old things and see the hidden beauty (a bit like people really) .Don't be afraid to experiment especially if you get something for nothing. Worst that can happen is you make a mess of it and it is still useful as firewood!!
