Need advice on cutting down old Palm trunks

I had three lovely Yucca trees in my front garden, but due to gales two years ago all leaves blew off and I was left with bare trunks. On advice given I left them until now to see if they would survive and grow again. There are lots of leaves growing around bottom of trees from the old roots. Can I just cut down the trunks now as they are dead. Any advice on how to do this would be appreciated.

Trees

They are very easy to cut down, especially as they have been bare for so long. If you have a chainsaw it wont take a minute otherwise you will need strong arms and a good sharp saw. They will grow well again once cut down though propably should have done this before the new shoots started.

Thanks Anncon, Got advice off internet to leave them until shoots grew. Should have posted JT first. Will do this at weekend and hope I don't do them any more damage than already done.
