Getting rid of daisies

Does anyone know of a natural way of getting rid of daisies. They are taking over my garden and i dont want to use chemicals as we have a cat.

I don't know if it is true but I have been told they only grow in badly fertilized soil. So a bit of Miracle Grow?

Daisy Daisy Give me your answer, do :D

Hi Guys,

I have a great gardening book that I just finished reading and lo and behold, I stumbled across dealing with deep-rooted weeds like daisies and dandelions. Teresa Galway is right if you want to get rid of them on a short term basis by blitzing them with a strimmer but if you want to rid yourself of them long-term then you have to either completely dig up the root and dont let any of the weed land elsewhere as they are divils to spread and make sure not to leave bald patches as they will just take hold. After digging them out or strimming them, the environmental way to completely get rid is by blocking out light to them by using dark tarpaulin or old carpet. It takes a few months though for this to come to fruition, so to speak :s You can also use a Feed and Weed that should help to keep them at bay and always rake your grass before mowing so that you catch the heads of all the weeds. Also, dont scalp the lawn as they love the bald patches :d

Hope that helps,

Shug :)

[quote=ned2009]if rotovating the lawn, spray with good dose of round up first, this will kill everything and within 7-10 days it can be re-sowed!!! keep the cat in for a week, alternatively get rid of cat!!! only jokin! even with a chemical you could just keep cat indoors untill it has kill off the weeds!![/Q
