Paper potter/biodegradable pots

Hi all,
I was just wondering if anybody had used biodegradable seedling pots and if so did they find them benificial. I have also seen an item called the paper potter which lets you make biodegradable seedling pots out of old news paper. It sounds great but I would be afraid the news paper pots would fall apart after too much watering and might not last long enough to get the seedlings in the ground. And what about ink leeching into the soil? I can't imagine that would be too healthy.

Am I worrying about nothing?

I was just talking to an avid gardener and finds a flat surface, piece of timber even, then she cuts toilet roll inserts in 3, fills them with compost, and then after a while, once they have established, she pots them, insert included into the soil, and says that egg containers, are good too! Its a bit cheaper too, as I feel the bio degradable pots while the way to go, are still on the expensive side. All the best with your venture.

Thanks

Thanks for that, they are great ideas. I will definatley give them a go. I did find a guy on e-bay in the UK selling a pack of biodegradable pots for about €15 including postage. Not too bad but not as cheap as using toilet rolls!!
