Cat litter

How do you dispose of cat litter?

All our cats over the years have been able to go out but now we've got a poor baba who cant.

He's very good, but disposing of the litter is new to us.

We recycle everything so we dont have bins.

What can we do? Flushing clumps not really a good idea either I think!

Any help :-)

cat litter

i found the best thing to do with it is bury it in a corner of the garden as cat litter is only like little stones, not everyone will agree but it works for me

Cat litter

I buy the wood pellet variety and throw it in the stove when I'm cleaning the tray and then just dispose of the ashes as usual, which when you burn timber can be scattered around trees in the garden, so no ashes in landfill. If you buy the large bag of pellets it's much better value and lasts a long time, and advantage of pellets is no smell at all, unlike clay. Hope this helps.

pet loo

Hi there, I remember seeing something about a pet loo you could buy--google it. Basically it was like a bucket with a lid, punch lots of holes in it, dig a hole and sink it in the ground so there is just enough showing to put the lid on. You put the pet waste in, pour in water every so often and it all seeps back into the earth.Of course this involves scooping out the lumps out of the litter tray. Charcoal litter is good for the tray as it absorbs liquid and kills the smell.

Hi

Instead of buying the wood pellet cat litter which is a bit expensive try the wood pellets for stoves it is exactly the same thing plus you get a 10kg bag for 3 euro instead of a 6 kg bag for 6 euro, then just put on stove, they are a lot better than the clay cat litter which clumps up very quickly and seems to hold the smell a lot more, mine wont use the clay anymore, you can get the pellets from connaught gold
