New Door or New Hinges?

8 Attachment(s)
Anyone know anything about hinges?

Two of three hinges on our kitchen door are broken and need to be replaced.

We got a guy out and he said they can't be replaced, and we'd have to buy a new door for €1,200.00. Is he right about that? The door is perfect apart from the hinges.

These hinges are 3.75 inches long.

Thanks

Hinges or a door....hinges every time

I reckon the guy was after a sale.

Try this website ,if they haven't got it, I'm sure they know where you can get it.

Hi OP, I am not a tradesman but here are my thoughts.

Check the door 'itself', is it totally square and undamaged.
If it is in good order can you unscrew/detach the hinges from it and throw them away. If you can get two or three new hinges and attach them to the door and refit to frame.

If you cannot fix that lowest hinge to frame, see if you can just move it up a few inches, maybe that would work.
Good luck.

Ps . i have to say that I have never fitted a door in my life.!!!
