I use odd socks for tying plants to stakes. They have give in them so do not cut into plants and are far kinder to tender plants than twine is.

I have also used larger socks to make hand puppet gloves for children. It is so easy and with just a little glue and some scraps of felt it is possible to make fun playthings.
