Default Old chair given a new life by Ms. O Sullivan's Rang 5 and 6 Blarney Boys School, Cork

As we are a green school our class was inspired by the many great ideas on jumbletown and decided to refurbish an old chair we found in the school as part of an Art project - the class really enjoyed the project and the pupil of the week has a new comfy throne for the week!

Instructions on how we refurbished the chair (written by Daniel M- Rang 6)

1. Acquire materials such as staple gun, sandpaper, pillar box red (colour optional) wood paint, fabric (Blarney Sofas helped us with this one),a screwdriver, white spirits, some undercoat paint and paintbrushes.
2. Disassemble the chair by unscrewing the screws.
3. Using the sandpaper rub the frame vigorously all over until it appears there is dust all over it.
4.Pour a small amount of white spirits on a cloth and rub all over to clean off the dust.
5.When dry, paint the frame using an undercoat.
6.Leave overnight to dry. Sand lightly and clean with white spirits again. Then paint over the undercoat using wood paint.
7. Measure the fabric to fit. Use a pencil to mark amount needed and leave roughly an inch extra all around. Then fold the fabric neatly around the cushion pull the fabric tight inwards and staple it using the staple gun. The same applies to the other cushion.
8. When the paint on the frame is dry, fasten the newly reupholstered cushion onto the frame using the screws and screwdriver.

And voila you have a new and unique chair for a fraction of the price!
