Default Recycling centres (Limerick) and composting

I recycle as much as I can but I've two queries on the subject, I need to furnish a bedroom and would like to know if there is a recycling centres where I might be able to search for old furniture and paint in the Limerick area, I moved here a year ago from Kildare and am still finding my way around.

Secondly, I have a composting bin which I've been using for a year, it's full now but I've no compost yet, any tips on what I'm doing wrong?

Hi SLCB,

Re: Furniture: Unlike in Dublin, Limerick Recycling Centres do not accept household furniture (to the best of my knowledge):

Details...here:
http://www.limerickrecyclingcentres....t_accepted.htm

The Mungret Re-Use Centre accepts garden furniture, windows etc. but not household furniture. Members of the public who wish to collect and re-use these items have to sign a disclaimer.

Details here:

Re: Paint: Most recycling centres only accept empty paint tins but according to Limerick City Council's website, there's a "paint collection point" for "oil based paints, solvents, paint strippers, thinners and varnishes"
in the Park Road Depot: Telephone (061) 407 190. (All external phone calls to this number are routed to the Environment Department in City Hall.)

Park Road Depot Opening Hours 7. 00 am - 5.00 pm Mon - Thurs; Fri 7.00 am - 4.00pm.

Details and map...here:

Whether or not they'll allow you to take this material is another matter -- you should phone before you call out.
