Default lampshade too big

hi, i got a lovely lampshade in a charity shop but the circular thing that holds it onto the stand is too big.
in a shop the guy showed me that you can get a plastic clip on gizmo to make the circle smaller but he felt they only come with each lampshade, he is unsure if they are sold separaely, if someone knows what these are do you know where i can get one? dublin or wicklow, thanks pl
