Default energy efficient lighting

for some of us, who have certain medical conditions, i am not supposed to be using these lights AT ALL. and i dont know what to do!
they emit UV rays like the sun, and it makes me ill.
any ideas/
Many people now with the same conditions are lobbying in other countries to have exceptions made for people like myself.

I never thought about the uv from the bulbs........ thank goodness you mentioned it .... I am using them but won't be putting in my beside lamps.
You do have a problem though. Would using uplighter shades or those globe ones...... so the bulb is hidden help? I was thinking if you encase the bulb it would act as a filter/barrier to the harmfull rays.
What about those eveready energy bulbs do they have the same effect, they look like reg bulbs but are not quite as efficient...I don't think?
I hope this helps somehow
