Default Book Swap

I was in my local P.O this morning posting off books to another JTer and saw they'd thought up a new idea. They've a shelf of books, mostly popular fiction and the idea is that you drop in a book and take a book. The only thing they ask is that the book you drop in, is in good condition and as interesting as the one you take. I love passing books on once I've read them, so I thought it was a brill idea :)

I do this where I work as well as posting books on jumbletown, and it works great and most people leave the book back plus another one to pass on to other potential readers.

Speaking of posting books.......
I recently posted some books to Germany and was told that if you wrap them in clear transparent covering, there is a special postage rate for books. Would have cost €95 normal post but with special "book post" in transparent plastic packeging, it cost €21 !! I couldn't believe it.
Worth enquiring if this still applies to books posted within Ireland.
