Default Ireland's first carbon budget

Minister Gormley delivers State’s first carbon budget
(Dept of the Environment Press Release, 06/12/07)

"Budget announcement contains series of measures aimed at tackling climate change."

Carbon budget includes:

1. minimum energy efficiency standards for light bulbs, meaning an end to traditional inefficient light bulbs from 2009;

2. new emissions based system for motor tax with significant savings for new low emission vehicle cars;

3. a mandatory environment labelling system for new cars.
