Default Mile a minute

Hi Minnie pal, Sometimes neighbours arent aware of the problem they are causing and a quiet word might help to sort out the situation (or an invitation in for a glass of wine some night). A few weeks ago my neighbour invited us in for a drink during the nice weather and I was a bit amazed to see how ivy from my garden had colonised the trellis which I had put up on top of the wall between us. It had happened very fast. I have roses and honeysuckle and climbing hydrangea growing over the trellis and could not see what was happening. The ivy was at the bottom of the garden but it had snook up the side wall. Fortunately she just keeps it cut and thats fine by me, but because of this I can see the situation you are in.

Kill it & kill it fast, this stuff is a nightmare & wrecked my garden, it strangles everything.

Here's the post i made about it, some good ways of getting rid of it.

Default bindweed/mile a minute

are these two the same? I will try and find out where the main root is over the other side of wall, i think it has not infiltrated my garden it is only creeping along the top of the high wall, but its down my neighbours trellis where she planted virginia creeper.
She only has a few potted plants but i want to do more than that so i best sort it.
I think we can sort this together, but yes must get rid of it before it actually intertwines with the overgrown stuff i have here. I just moved into this place.
xminnie pal.
Thanks for all the advise. I dont quite understand about the staking and allowing it to curl round them, well, that part i understand but not the spraying and the bags etc. yes, i am dim, very dim,!!!

Hi minnie, you need to get glyphosat acid, commonly found in round up and only spray on the leaves. Add a little washing up liquid and spray every time leaves go green, this will kill it but it takes time.

Default mile a minute

Hi Minnie, I agree with Etana, if this is coming from your neighbour's garden
then you cant kill it but you can cut back any that comes over your wall.
Mile a minute is not bindweed its Russian Vine, if this belongs to your neighbour
and you put weed killer on it they may not be happy about it.
Russian vine is usually planted to cover an unsightly shed or tree stump.

Default neighbour knows about it.

she tells me she planted virginia creeper.
I saw the hubby cut the ends of the vine/creeper, couldnt see what, last night, maybe he WAS the source!!! I dont think that gonna work though.

Default Hack job

Just got onto the raised bed and - Pulled - pulled, the creeper.
I really dont know what i was pulling, i googled mile a minute but I am not sure whether it is, i think it is virginia creeper. I have taken 'specimens and shall take pics.
Two horticulturalists say its mile a minute, if it is, its very close to virginia creeper though it seems to have larger leaves and a reddish stem, but the smaller creeper could be baby virginia's!!!!
will take pics, also plucked another for identification.
hope you can help,
I have left a good lump of greenery and virgina hanging there all sad and horrible.
Such was my enthusiasm. It wasnt hard to come away from the wall at all.
