For those of you who love the before and after stories on jtown, check out Design Sponge (american design blog) every Thursday where lots of amazing before and afters are featured
http://www.designspongeonline.com/category/before-and-after

They also have DIY projects http://www.designspongeonline.com/category/diy-projects

I have no connection with the site, I'm just addicted to browsing it and thought I'd share the wealth!

I've been following design sponge for ages, another of my favourite sites is
http://www.younghouselove.com/. It's a blog run by a young couple as the revamp their house. It's been going for a few years now, and as they have finished the house, they have just sold it and are going to start all over again with a new house. Apart from great pictures and tutorials, they are not afraid to post their makeover fails as well as sucesses! (which makes me feel a whole lot better about my fails, I once tried to cover a lampshade with wallpaper..........enough said!!)

I love Design sponge too! And I'm definitely gonna check out younghouselove! I have discovered another website recently: http://www.the-brick-house.com/
It's by a young American woman renovating a midcentury house, furnishing it with great pieces, with the rule-of-thumb of not spending more than 100 dollars on any one piece of furniture. She is like the creative equivalent of Einstein. One of her before-afters is a bench made from salvaged pieces from their old rotting fence. It's fabulous, and it might have been featured on Design sponge too, as it was so a.m.a.z.i.n.g.

Only problem is I spend more time drooling over others' amazing furniture makeovers than doing any of my own...

Great!!! More sites for me to drool over. And Merienne, I totally agree.....I spend a lot more time being "inspired" than actually putting any of the inspiration into practice!
