Hi, I just posted in the wanted section looking for fruit bushes & trees http://www.jumbletown.ie/forums/showthread.php?t=123527
I do this because at the moment in LIDL they're selling blackcurrant bushes and I was told winter is the time to plant, just wondering could I just go out and take some cuttings from fruit bushes and start them off or woulod they already have to be rooted?
Thanks - Dave

Blackcurrant bushes are easy to propogate. The branches tend to take root when they are laden with fruit and brushing the ground. If you were closer to North Tipp I would offer you some. My sister bought the ones from Lidl 2 years ago & they all failed. Not sure if the variety was suited to the Irish climate. I would recommend getting root stock from someone who has them. Also a good time for planting on strawberry runners.
