YouTuber willmcq writes: "My dad and his friend filmed themselves driving around Dublin city centre on 4th of September 1976. They drove down Grafton Street and up by Dame Street by the central bank (still being built) then down past Trinity College and up to the top of O'Connell street. Check out the flares and 1970s cars."

Thanks for this. I'm very sentimental about old Dublin photos and videos. I often walked down Grafton Street during lunchtime from work, and called into Bewleys occasionally for a cuppa if I could stretch to it. Ah memories! And the bigger the flares the better too! Any more like this?

Aw thanks for all the videos. The lads and lassies larking about in the first few were very reminiscent of the Beatles in the film 'Help!'. At that time I would have looked very like the girl with the white fur 'helmet' style hat, right down to her white knee socks and even her shoes. And great to see the Lynott boy too. What a trip down memory lane. Thanks again.

Hi TickTock,

You're right about the 1960s videos -- very Beatlesque. Despite (or maybe because of) all the larking about, they are very poignant. Ah, the years, the years...

What a trip down memory lane. I was training in Temple St. Hosp at this time and that was the exact route I took to drive through the city centre. Would have gone on round by the ambassador, up parnell square in to Dorset St. and then swing round to the hospital. They were talking about relocating the Hosp. even back then and I hear this morning that the plans are being refused. 35 years later!!
