Since we are making Christmas less about buying and more about personalising gifts and I used these to make personalised decorations for friends and family. I wrap them up in some chiffon fabric (€1.00 in Lidl for a good sized sheet) and tie with a ribbon.

The rings I painted various colours with matchpots I found in Woodies for 10 cent each (so the whole tub I have cost €1.80), the rings I have spare because I prefer tab top curtains (less fiddly than curtain hooks and such), the ribbon I have in my craft supplies much of which was gifted to me by the most generous fellow JT'er (Raisincake - THANKS A BILLION my dear friend :o)).

We spent some time together doing crafty gifts the other day and had the best time with the kids :o)

I wrote each person's name on the front and wrote out Merry Christmas on some, a scripture verse on others. The one's my daughter asked me to make for her friends in 1st year seem to have gone down a treat and they all wanted to know where she bought them and how she could possibly have found ones with their nicknames on. Hope you like.

Hi there,
These are really lovely and the fact that you spent time making them yourself makes them all the more special. A lovely idea.
Have a very Happy Christmas

Well done Mickey, so imaginative, and creative, I have thrown so many of these in the bin, would never have thought of such a lovely idea. Great for kids to make on a rainy day, and give to loved ones as pressies. Best wishes to you and everyone on JT for Christmas and New Year, and many thanks to all that I have received beautiful items from during the year. :~) XX

Well done Mickey, they're absolutely gorgeous and I love the idea of writing your daughter's friends nicknames on them! It's that extra touch that can't be shop-bought. That's why I love handmade stuff! I have some spare rings too in a bag and I'll be doing something with them after Christmas now. Thanks a million. Happy Christmas to you Mickey and all your family too. Hope Santa brings lots!

Thanks for your comments guys - does the heart good to be encouraged :o)

How about using metallic markers? or White pens? Make a mobile with prayers/wishes/memories/quotes/scripture verses. Not for above a crib mind you - there'd be murder if one dropped off :oP

I was thinking of using modern floral ideas and using for birthdays ...

And a very blessed Christmas to you and all your families as well :o)

Fantastic idea! I've already added it to list of activities we do in the 'special needs' centre where I work. We will do them for our Christmas Fair in 09. Thanks for the idea.

I have just found a bag of these curtain rings in my shed. I can't wait to try out this idea on them. Mega! (Yes, I know it's only May, but a gal has got to be ready)

I have decided to kick off this year's Green Christmas by bumping up this great idea from last year. It's time to get the thinking hats on and come up with ideas for repurposed, recyled Christmas presents and decorations.
So BUMP!

well done unapam, I had quite forgotten about these... anyone else got any ideas? :) I made home made comunion bombonieri (kinda like wedding favours that the Italians use for all important occassions), its not quite repurposing as craft ideas, but cost a hell of a lot less than if I had bought em... I must put em up and see if anyone can find a way to make em christmassy....
