I have a lovely fairly new Nike backpack but the problem is with the zip. It closes no problem the then starts to open from the end. Any tips or advice most welcome because it is such a shame to bin it. Regards

What i do is sew the piece just where it starts to open and maby a little bit beyond when you close the zip Then you are past the opening bit saves changing the whole zip Have done this with schoolbags years go

Hi Mistake took your advice and went back to the bag only to discover that when you close the zip it pulls up as if it is closing (ie it doesnt catch) but in actual fact it is not closing at all. I know I could get a new zip but that costs over €15 and couldnt be bothered.

If you wack the back of the zip with a hammer and then sew it at the bottom tightly- it could be that the zip isn't gripping the teeth---
or put an ad in the wanted section for a zip..

Alas I have given up on the zip, have tried all the tips but nothing worked, such a pity to dump the bag so I have put a thread in the sports section...

Measure the lengeth of the zip and buy one in hickeys or home focus and ask a friend with a sewing machine to put it in. It shouldn't be too big a job.

if you do get a new zip all you need is the part that pulls up and down. Take the old one off and put on the new part. (make sure the parts are the same number.ie 5) I have done this with bags & coats.
