Hi Everyone,

Almost forgot about this! Perhaps we're getting too old for birthdays. Anyway...

JumbleTown officially went "live" on April 22nd, 2006, which means that today we're all of three years of age.

So, on behalf of all the JumbleTown team, a big thank you to all our Members, Supporters in the Local Authorities, and the Media throughout the island of Ireland!

By way of celebration, we're asking all JumbleTowners to continue to do their bit for the environment and community at large by helping to promote the site even further. You can do this by printing off an A4 JumbleTown poster and putting it up wherever you have permission (work notice-boards, community centres etc.).

JumbleTown Posters can be downloaded...here:

http://www.jumbletown.ie/posters.htm

Thanks again, JumbleTowners, and keep up the good work!

Regards

Congrats to the people that conceived and brought to the public the wonderful baby that is jumbletown.

As an aside, any chance you'd update the poster, mainly because for people of my vintage, that know exactly where it comes from, its funny.
I would imagine however that to our younger more high tech, graphic lead generations it appears dated.

A competion amongst our art colleges students with a nominal prize of an Ipod or something would throw up many creative ideas and also spread the word country wide.

Regards,

Fries.

Hi Fries,

Thanks for sticking with us so long and being part of the community that has built the site up, post by post, as it were.

As for our poster, we opted for Kitchener's image back in 2006 because his is an iconic one (and also out-of-copyright, so it's free!). We're pretty fond of him, but I agree, he mightn't have the same impact on younger generations -- I suppose he is a bit severe looking. A new poster has been suggested from day-one; however I understand the managers of JumbleTown have no immediate plans for a change.

Hi Summersun,

I'm not sure off-hand. I'll check the statistics at the "back-end" of the system and report back to you asap.

Hi Summersun,

Not counting a few "test-members" -- co-workers, family and friends -- who made test-posts and pretended to be interested in each other's items, the first "real" Member to join (we were still in testing-mode though "live" on the Net) in March 2006 was... annetoner.

Having just spent rather a long and very enjoyable time browsing the support forum, let me add my word of thanks to those who got Jumbletown going and keep it going. I am a recent member and have to say that so far I am greatly impressed.
