shade is very important for me.
I know gardens are not instant but i need 'instant' but i want a natural instant.
I know most would go for the parasol or the swing seat, i would love the latter a lot but think it would take up too much space, I want to make a natural arbour with creeping 'stuff' but right now, it has to be instant.
Any ideas other than canvas? probably not but i am throwing this out anyway to see if some of ye have ideas.

what about making a pergula using a trellis and adding real turf on top, saw something like that at the Blooms in the phoenix park?

Hi,
Have you thought of planting a Russian Vine? They are commonly known as
"the mile a minute plant" and for very good reason. They climb (over anything and everything) so would be ideal for you arbour.
Best of luck,
Tod

Somewhere on here someone posted up a link where there was a shade made from broken umberellas - absolutely gorgeous - so unique and so colourful and sure everyone has a broken umberella somewhere I'm sure so you shouldn't have any bother getting enough to do it. Just sew them together and voila!

gosh thanks for those two tips, would love to find the link to the broken umbrellas.
would the russian vine be ok to attract wildlife?
could i use the frame of a swingseat as a sort of pergola for climbers and when well established change the canvas 'roof'
