Great idea Mrsl. I have a load of old Christmas Cards and it's a bit daunting to think up so many different designs. Particularly as cost can be a factor, as I try to keep the costs down for any embellishments. Looking forward to seeing your cards and any others that may turn up here.

Do you always make your own Christmas cards Scrabble? I used to do it years ago but it got too much and to be honest some people I sent them to really weren't that interested in whether they were handmade or not. So now I only send them to a very few friends who really want to receive the handmade ones and who understand the amount of work that goes into them. I mostly give them to fundraisers.

I will post more recycled cards when I have got them done.

Are there any other JTers who recycle Christmas cards? If so, please join in.

I used to make loads of christmas for everyone I knew but now I only give handmade to those who appreciate them like yourself.
I stick to a simple design so its not too overwhelming.I realised when it wasn't fun anymore that I was making too many.
I love making my childrens birthday cards.Only last week I made a castle card for my 4yr old and of course Dora was on it too.
I always make things for the childrens teachers at christmas and end of school year because I know that they are appreciated.

Hi there Scrabble - your cards and scrap pages are lovely. I use the VSO resizer for photos, sometimes I need to bring the size down, again and again so they will fit. My camera has different photo sizes but it doesn't take photos small enough for JT, but I am still getting used to it. Hope more JTers join in with us. I will post more when they are done. I also do brand new ones too.

mrsl

These are lovely Scrabble. More, more!!

I use Paint to resize, very easy ...just open the photo using Paint, then go to Image tab and select Resize/Skew.

Resize by 50% in the top 2 Horizontal and Vertical boxes. I often have to resize again (maybe next time by 80%) to bring the image down small enough for JT.

Thank you very much for all your lovely comments.

I resized my photos in photo express.I'm always afraid I'l press the wrong button and delete everything!! The photos I do have up are the max size allowed by Jumble Town but they look huge.I'l play around with it today and see if I can upload them smaller.

The first craft site I became a member of was docrafts.co.uk.I have a gallery full of cards there and so do my children. Its a long time since I uploaded a card there. Its a great site for ideas.I prefer the American style of both scrapbooking and cardmaking, thats why I love twopeasinabucket.

Thanks again

Cds are great for using on cards.
I gave a craft class at my childrens school last year and we made cd scrapbooks.I used a cropadile(great hole punching tool) to punch holes in the cds, then covered the cds with fancy paper, stuck on some photos and put rings through the holes to hold it all together. The kids loved making them.

Kate44 - lovely cards. Do you have a Cuttlebug or Big Shot? I've stopped myself from buying expensive machines but I expect they do help a lot, particularly for dry embossing, I'm still using the lightbox. But I do have the small X-Cut which I bought when they brought the price way down, but now I know the reason - the pieces are too small really, so it was probably a false economy.

I made some cards this evening but haven't the energy to take photos right now. I'll catch up with you again girls.

Thanks Durran. I hadn't heard of Pix.ie. Have you found anything negative on Pix.ie? Thanks anyway, I'll check the site out.

nothing negative with pix.ie . flickr has a limit to the amount of photos you can put up. I don't know about Picasa. pix.ie has a limit but it is huge. It costs nothing give them a try.

Hello Scrabble
Thanks for your comments.
The red ones are just red glitter card with gold star stickers, both I think I bought donkey's years ago in Easons before I started 'serious' crafting! I'm sure you could pick them up in a toy shop craft section for kiddies.

The gold ones are some sequin waste which a friend gave me years ago and I didn't know what to do with it, but stored it away for just the right time. I don't know where you could get it here, I think she got it in the US or UK. It's gold on one side and silver on the other.

The silver ones are just silver peeloffs borders which I bought at the Belfast craft show last year in the King's Hall (its on again this weekend), they were being sold off at a special price of 25p per sheet so I bought a few sheets and again stored them away until now. Are you going to Belfast this weekend for the craft show?

Another friend provided the candles, they have an opaque plastic cover, not the foil ones but they could be used as well just not with silver decoration of course. I hope to post up some more stuff over the next few weeks if I can get down to it. I thought of white strips of card, punched with fancy punch and maybe red snowflakes or sparkly bobbles for snow.

Have a go, I'd love to see what you come up with.

They are 8cm x 6cm. I have a few left if you want them I'll send them to you. I won't be making any more this year. Let me know.

I really enjoyed looking at all your beautiful cards and pictures. The calendars were gorgeous and I got some great inspiration to make some new cards.

I started making cards about a year ago thanks to a QVC craft day (missed last Christmas but had great fun making this years cards) and scanned every card I've made into the hard drive. Alas computers are not nephew proof and I didn't have anything backed up, when he dropped the thing :(

Since then I've tried not to think about the cards or 6 years of digital photographs that I never printed, all lost (so far, but maybe i can get it fixed). Anyway thanks for sharing your photographs, tips and websites - I'll be checking pix.ie in a minute as well as a few others.

But have lots of plans at the back of my mind. I'm really delighted to come on here to 'escape'. So many nice people here! I still have your envelope of goodies on my craft table and I will be using them, I promise.

I haven't made a card in years. But with all this inspiration and it being Valentines soon I decided to have a bash. Silver card from a gift box a bit of printing and there you have it. All I need now is a apt verse!

LOL! I'm doing a serious one this year for a change. Last one was

My love is like a cabbage, divided into two,
The leaves I'll give to others, my heart I'll give to you.

Lovely! Great vintage look. I've been away from the cards for quite a long time due to other pressures - time to get back and hopefully do some recycling again. Well done. I'm just thinking......I do believe I have that Christmas stamp too!

Goodness me it's way too long since I visited JT. How is everyone here? Some beautiful work on here folks. Loving all the crafts. I'm a crafter myself. Anyone batch making for valentines or are ye ready? Any ideas for repurposing for valentines cards or have you repurposed a valentine card yet? Dying to hear more from ye. ;-)

I use www.madaboutcards.com a lot.

Yes I love using card websites for inspiration as I enjoy making them myself with my children, such a great activity for them. Getting them involved with arts and crafts is a perfect way for them to start expressing their emotions. Another great crafts site to use for ideas is something like Cregal Art (http://www.cregalart.ie/marteccart/pc/mainIndex.asp). Does anyone else use this site? It even sometimes gives great deals on crafts, another site I found recently that is good for daily ideas for cultural events ^ musuem tickets is Groupon (http://www.groupon.ie/bargains/). Thsi is a link to the Irish site, think there is a UK for those who are interested.

I've recently found out that caffeine hates me but was left with teabags and rather than throw them out I decided to make paper envelopes for them, big enough to hold 2 teabags and gift them as a little extra in thankyou cards. Writing the tea type on the flap.

I'd read some time ago about appliqué on cards, so I thought I would give it a go. You need to iron on interfacing onto the material then cut the shapes, I sewed the wing onto the chick first then sewed it to the card, the eggs were to small so i just glued them on. This works best on tri-fold cards, I think for ordinary cards you should just stitch everything first then glue on to give the illusion that it is sewn on. Finally add the finishing touches by drawing on the extras, so that was the easter card finished.
Then I made a Bithday card, the dress topper was made from a template found on google images, the girl was a drawing I picked up a while ago, I just changed it a bit and painted it, for the writing I copied one of my fonts lightly in pencil then went over it in pen.

Great cards! I love, love, love, cards made by recycling/upcycling. Funny, I was just looking at some fabric-on-card cards yesterday and wanted to have a go. You've whetted my appetite now!

Some more fabric styled cards, and a real man card for that biker in the family.

Had a pile of paint charts and decided to do a sort of mosaic on card. Settled for a bird, since I wanted to start off slow and easy. But it can lead to a whole lot of complicated designs too.

I've had a mini spate of card making, mostly making them for a charity to raise funds.
This is old cards to new ones, funnily enough nearly all were Christmas cards! I'll be keeping a couple of these for myself. Some of the toppers are from Crackers, I think I had planned to make tags from them a long, long time ago.

Nice cards Gormal. I haven't been crafting for a long time. Must get back to recycling my Christmas cards again.

I've had a splurge!! I've so many 'bits' saved in a box that have to be used up. And I've a rescue dog, so am out walking daily, which has led to the resurrection of my pressed flower cards.
My brother in law had an accident and have made this one from some of the bits, to put a smile on his face
