I'm just wondering if anyone has good tips on cleaning an oven without the use of any chemicals. I make a lot of apple tarts and the juice always flows out on to bottom of oven and sticks to it. Also looking to get the metal grill back sparkling. Any help appreciated

I use baking soda to clean my oven. Sprinkle it all over, leave for a few mins and then scrub it off with a scourer. I make a paste with water for the door, not too much water, just enough so it sticks. You can do the same for the shelves, just sit them on newspaper and leave them for a while, then scrub. Always works for me.

My uncle used to use baking soda too and swore by it. When the oven was clean, he would mix some baking soda in water and paint it onto the base of the oven and leave it there. Then, when it came to cleaning the oven, the dirt would just wipe off ...!!!

Yes, I use a bread soda and water paste as well, leave for 30 to 60 mins ,don't let it dry out then remove with scourer. use it on hob as well, also use this paste to clean mugs with tea stains.

I always use bread soda for cleaning my ovens (and most other things) mix it with cheap vinegar and you have chemical free cleanser. When you have your oven clean I always sprinkle the floor of oven liberally with bread soda, it soaks up any drips and goes hard. When you come to cleaning your oven again I use a lifter (a bit like egg lifter without the holes ) scoop it onto kitchen roll then rub the oven with damp kitchen roll. To clean the shelves I put them in dishwasher and when they come out wipe any residue left easily with damp cloth, result sparkling shelves :D To clean glass doors I use a paste of bread soda and water to remove stains, to remove stubborn stains use wire wool scrubber gently.

hi
when u get the oven nice and sparkling its a good idea to put a layer of tinfoil on the bottom. This collects any spills etc and is easily changed.
