bump please - just wondering about "proving" the pan
|
Hi Jennifer
I've never used the salt idea, but on my wok (a heavy steel one with no coating) I just use oil on kitchen towel. I have never washed it, just wiped clean and then oiled it before I put it away. I've had it for over 5 years now and never had any problems. At first I thought the idea of not washing it was disgusting, but I'd never dream of washing it now!! |
Lidl have a set at moment or coming up with a steamer included and I think they're €55 - will check it now.
The special is from 7th May and it's €65 and here's the link... http://www.lidl.ie/ie/home.nsf/pages...Cookware_S et |
If you google how to season a wok you'll find out. You've got to coat it with oil and then leave it on a low heat for hours!! I do wash my wok with a soft cloth. Nothing abvrasive ever goes near it. And it's fine. Although the less you wash it the more the seasoning perforates the wok and the better food tastes out of it apparently.
