hi i have them out side my back door now all i can think is that they be in my bedroom tonight yuck i wont be hoovering them

have you named these guys yet? why not scoop one up and bring the squirm to the Natural History Museum.
someone once brought the 'black widow' in to be id and yeh well you can guess what happened...

they look like leather jackets to me, the larve of the daddy long legs.

Hi Only,

These are indeed called 'leather jackets' or daddy longlegs larvae. they are just brilliant to use for freshwater fishing instead of worms. ive often caught up to 20 perch with just one leather jacket, the fish are not able to pull them off the hook cos of their tough skin.
if you do decide to make a killing on them for the anglers don't keep them in the fridge cos they go all hard an brittle and some might even die! no they need somewhere warm and damp like your bathroom. also if you do handle them don't squeeze too hard or they'l pop and then it gets messy.
