Wow
Very inventive. It looks great. Well done.
Looks great in your daughters room. |
Did you rip all the clothes and then knit the rug with the wool?
Well done. Clever you. Must have taken time. |
thnks.
i cut strips and used these strips to knit the rug. |
Great, looks really good. You must have the patience of a cat to have cut all those strips.

the rug
hi Marie Lee,
Lovely rug, I love the colours and the texture, your daughter must be delighted. i was wondering how you knit it, did you knit separate squares and then sew them all together, and crochet the white around the edges or how did you do it? I'm thinking of knitting some small blankets and rugs myself soon, and your one caught my eye. regards zileoco |

yes i did separate squares and crocheted these together and then crocheted edges. but its easier to knit it in one piece. |
free knitting and crochet patterns on Ravelry.com
hi Marie Lee, thanks for the reply, that must have been time consuming enough, crocheting all the squares together, and crocheting around the outside.
I just also want to leave a tip for anyone in here who is interested in knitting crochet, spinning weaving and other fabric and fibre arts, there's a wonderful site called ravelry.com where you can access lots of free patterns, join online groups of likeminded people and get hints and help from experienced crafters, i get lost in time and space everytime i go on this site.... I have found some lovely free patterns, eg for socks and for easy baby blankets and clothes, which I hope will come in useful over the coming months as I start to knit up all my wool, which has lingered for too long in a box in storage. hope that Marie Lee doesn't mind me hopping in with this info here... best of luck to all in their fabric and fibre adventures! regards zile |

Hi Marie Lee,
great way of recycling, thanks for sharing! My girls are both just growing out of their clothes, I think I have to try some of your ideas ;) |
All these remakes look very nice!
I especially like the rug. In Scandinavia, rugs woven from strips of old fabric are very popular, and have been for probably centuries. My family use rugs that are easily 75 years old. Back then, less thought was put in to designing the pattern though, which is a shame. I'd love it if we had some that were as well put together as the one you've knitted! And the clothes look great, such a great way to update a child's wardrobe. |
thanks for your nice words :)

car organizer
Hi Marie Lee, I love the car organizer--a great idea--and the fact it is made out of denim jeans means it will be strong and will not date as the girls get older. Eibhlin.
