Misuse of the PM system

Hi Everyone,

In recent weeks (February 2009), Admin has received a couple of reports from Members stating that they have received PMs (Private Messages) from other Members that were of a spiteful nature.

Members should note that Admin will BAN any Member found to be sending such correspondence. The ban will be for a period of time, or, in extreme cases, permanent.

If anyone has a problem with a fellow Member, they should advise Admin by way of PM rather than posting on the public forum. Handling such matters in private is by far the best option.

To summarise, a Member will face a ban if they are found to be:

- discouraging a Giver from giving to a particular Taker
- making false/unsubstantiated/scurrilous accusations against another Member
- sending unsolicited PMs unrelated to the Giving and Taking process
- spamming via the PM system
- selling/buying via the PM system

Over the past 3 years, JumbleTown has developed a reputation for being a friendly place. Members have made it so. Members can help Admin to keep it like that by making us aware of any post or PM that they feel has no place on a community-oriented forum.

To report a post on an ad/thread, simply click the red and white triangle icon beneath the Poster's/Member's User Name.

Scurrilous or mischief-making PMs should be forwarded to Admin, who will deal with the matter in a discreet manner.

Proper Use of the PM System:

Members should use the PM system to pass on their contact details, to arrange collection details, and also to pass on other comments relevant to the Giving and Taking process that may be of a private or sensitive nature and which they feel may not be appropriate for the public forum/the listings.

So-called "sob-stories" should not be sent via the PM system (or posted on the Public Forum, for that matter). It's our experience that Givers react badly to them or simply ignore them -- in other words, they rarely have the desired effect.

And finally, just in case you missed it, here's how to send a PM:

Thanks for your co-operation in this matter.
