thank you.

Very nice job! Can I ask if you primed the wood or sanded the original varnish off? Also, what type of paint did you use to actually paint it. Looks so much bigger and brighter!

Hi there, I used Annie Sloan chalk paint and sealed it with her specialised wax. You can achieve the same effect if you don't want to use this. If you use a primer/undercoat first applied with a small brush and mini gloss roller. Just use one or two coats of quick drying satin paint on top. You can get whatever colour satin paint you like mixed in a good paint shop. I'd recommend the quick drying satin paint as it dries quickly allowing you to do a second coat in no time. I've painted kitchen presses with satin paint. I had the paint mixed to the colour I wanted and the finish is excellent. There is no need to sand the press before you paint it. I never do and I seem to get away with it, the primer/undercoat will cover the colour of the press and create a base for the paint to adhere to :-) |
Thanks for the step by step.
I've some units I want to paint up so every bit of information about successful projects is really helpful! :) |

Fantastic job! Really impressive!
Is Annie Sloan chalk paint easily available? I only heard of it last week when I was searching for a course on furniture restoration. |

Hi rodoesall.
Just to let you know the Annie Sloan Chalk Paint is available in Rua on Capel Street, and another shop in Cow's Lane, Temple Bar that I can't remember the name of! There is also a shop that stocks it in Dalkey if that is nearer you. I use it a lot to paint furniture and it sticks to anything. There is also another brand if chalk paint that is nice to work with - Authentico - and they have a range of colours. You could google it for stockists. Lovely job on the dresser original poster - what colour did you use in Annie Sloan paint? Thanks, Chalkie. |
That looks fantastic it looked so dated before, I wouldn't have looked at it twice. You've done a brilliant job!
