Garden coffee table

A friend gave me an old set of garden furniture she no longer wanted. I started to sand them down for a fresh coat of varnish and all was going good until I got to the table and realised that half of the slats were rotten beyond repair and the legs were rotten half way up.. I was just going to give up and bin it but decided to try and salvage it somehow.
I removed all the slates and chopped the bottom off the legs. I then found some old board which I screwed to the bottom of the table and using some left over tiles and a few slats that were not rotten, I tiled the top, separating each tile with a slat of wood. I then found a small biscuit tin, planted a plant in it and screwed it to the bottom of the table so that it could grow through the umbrella hole. I now have a lovely new coffee table and matching benches that is just perfect for relaxing on the decking. |

Well done.
Absolutely fabulous. Love the tile design and the colour. The plant was ingenious!! You have a great eye to see potential in things and a lot of patience too I reckon.

Fabulous work. Don't know how I missed this. I love the plant idea. And the wood between tiles is a great idea especially if you want to use different oddments. Well done.
