bath - re-enamelling advice?
 

hi all i need to get my old cast iron bath re enamelled has any any experiences of doing this themselves as it is an expensive job to get done and the results i seen have not been great would like to give it a go myself/himself lol any advice would be appreciated.

Just a thought for you regarding your bath.

Bought my old cast iron bath 8 years ago in a junk yard! It was rusted around the plug hole and the sides. But I loved this bath, so I saved up (it's taken awhile) and got it done professionally, it cost around 500 euro's. It looks so beautiful now. Don't think I could have done this myself.

great guy based in blancherstown in phone book, will try to get his number for you

You can get a few '' Destroy It Yourself '' kits from the big painter supply shops .
But be careful to read and follow the small print as these contain dangerous fumes when curing , and keep potentially pregnant or pregnant persons far away .
Results not too bad if you're anyway handy...........

thank you all so much for your replies i would love to get the number of the man in blanchardstown maybe even to ring and ask about cost etc.. 500 sound so much but i don't want to throw out a cast iron bath to fit a plastic one.

I had my bath re-enamelled and although the bathroom was quite a distance from the balcony, the fumes killed my rabbit. When I got home he started having fits and died in my arms- very very sad. That's why it's expensive it's quite a big job, I definetly wouldn't say it's a diy option.

wow jeana that is food for taught and i have four kids a bearded dragon and from tonight a puppy maybe not the route to go.

Don't think this is a DIY project....It is a specialised area of work......I had a cast iron bath re-glazed 6/7 years ago by The Bathroom Renovation Company, Sligo - I can let you have a phone number & more details if you like, by PM.
