Is Kappa Board recyclable..?
Hi fellow Jumbletowners...!
I work in a graphic design studio and we use a product called Kappa Board. It's like a 'foam sandwich'... basically there a foam core with stiff card on either side and it's used when presenting concepts etc, whereby we stick layouts etc., to it and show the work to clients. Then (whether approved or not) we generally dispose of it - usually by simply discarding into a bin..! This doesn't hang well with myself or indeed most of my colleagues but we've been told not to put it in our recycling bins, so therefore I'm wondering if anyone knows where it can be disposed of or preferably can it be recycled? Any information appreciated, as we tend to have quite a pile of it from time to time. Regards, Paul. |
Hi Marathon Man, Would your Kappa board be re-useable? If it is then I might be able to use some of it for mounting photos and for passing on to students. Maybe you could send me a PM regarding this matter. Many thanks.

Sorry, I don't have answer for you but at one time I had a load of packing peanuts & polystyrene, I called the county council & asked if they could be put in the recycling bin but they said to put them in the refuge bin. According to them, they couldn't be recycled, felt guilty about it but what can you do if the facilities aren't there.

Are they full sheets? A3 and upwards? Could it be glued in layers and used as insulation in a garden shed?

Hi Headwave.
I've sent a PM to Smokyeyes and if they don't suit their needs then I suppose you could probably insulate something with them... although I've never heard it done...!!! |

Kappa Board
It could be an option to re-use them, check with schools/pre-schools who may be happy to extend their life ..

I don't want them, I was suggesting a re-use for them.
Cheers. |
