advice on a leather sofa please :)
Hi all :)
I have been offered lovely leather sofas ,( 3 seater and 2 seater ) there are quite a few scratches from the owners dogs on the sofas also a small area of fading from over cleaning. my question is can i repair these marks ? is it a big job ? also have a Mexican pine table and chairs that need cleaning, my ma in law told me to get saddle soap but I cant find any in the shops, so any ideas much appreciated :) thanks kind regards Jac |
cleaning leather sofas
Hi there
Saddle soap will definitely help. You use a damp sponge and make a lather with the soap, then rub the leather. Try not to leave the suds on, use another slightly damp cloth to wipe them away. Leave to dry a while, then with a dry cloth, polish. With a big job it might be better to take it in stages. Afterwards you can get a leather balm which should get rid of lots of the scratches. If they are really bad you could use one of scuffkote shoe polishes in the same colour but apply with a paint brush or even use a permanent marker. As for the mexican pine, nothing cleans wood better than sugar soap but you must wear gloves. Take them outside on a dry day, wash energetically with a brush to get into crevices then rinse thoroughly, very important. When completely dry you can polish with some olive oil, scented ever so slightly with your favourite essential oil. Happy Spring cleaning! |
Thanks a mill mammasboys :)

saddle soap
If you want saddle soap go to your closest riding school and they will have some or tell you where you can get it.

Hi,
Tesco sell horse stuff to so a good chance they might have saddle soap, if not any equestrian shop or suppliers selling animal feeds tend to have it. Jennie |
Thanks guys :)
