Washing machine replacing bearings?
Hi
I would like some advice please on replacing the bearings in a washing machine. I have a Hotpoint washing machine for about 8 years now. It is extremely noisy and has been like that for about the last 2 years! Apart from that though it still looks good, works very well and has a good spin speed etc and has never broken down - touch wood!!! Anyway my question is is it a bit job to replace the bearings and is it expensive. Any other advice that people might have on where to buy bearings etc would be much appreciated. Sparkwell |
Bear with us
Just asked my husband - who says it's not a big job BUT............ you'd want to know what you are doing.
Should be able to buy them from Hotpoint Or you could try Slate Engineering tel-- 01-4298404 are in Nagor Rd. We recently used them ( ask for Ciaran in Parts) and found them very good and reasonable. HTH Edel |
Bearings vary from machine to machine. I used to work on commercial machines, and a bearing change normally could take 3-4 hours and a decent toolkit . 30Mins to change a bearing is fast ;)

Washing machine bearings
Many thanks everyone for your replies. I'll give that number on the Nangor Road a ring to find out how much the parts would cost. My gut feeling is to leave well enough alone as long as the machine is still working and keep an eye out for one on Jumbletown!!
Thanks again everyone |
Washing machine bearings
Just had the repair man in yesterday with the same problem, it would cost around 140 euro to have them replaced and he said there was a fair chance they could go again and i should use it untill it packs in. The noise is driving me mad so i may go and get a new one.

washing machine bearings
Hi mdemps
140 euro is just to much to pay to repair a machine especially as it might go again. Anyone I have talked to is amazed that my machine has lasted as long. I now put it on to wash when I am leaving the house as it is deafening!! Never mind at least it is still going. Thnaks for your message. Sparkwell |
