Protection for plant pots..
2 Attachment(s)
Hi, first I want to say that english is my second language so please forgive me my mistakes.
I love plants, and I have many flowers and other plants inside and around my house. Something what always make me nervous is the rain which washing out the soil from my flower pots. And i think finally I found the solution. I used part of plastic box from ham, I simply cut the shape of my pot, small enough to put on top of the soil. I cut also place for growing plant and that's how it looks like :) It may looks better is you use plastic in different colour, or milk carton. I think it may stop growing weeds. Don't forget to put a stone in top, as a wind protection :) Looking forward for your opinion. |
I like your idea mp!
It may even help to keep the soil a little bit warmer, during frosts? Let us know how you get on using these over the winter :) |

I think you have a very clever idea, and I agree with the coment about the warm soil and frosts. If you had another plant the same as in your photo you could maybe compare the two in spring,as to how they grow, one with the soil covered and one without cover. It might be worth trying,if you do it then let us know how it goes |
Thanks for all kind words!
I will use this in every potted plant which is outside, but for frosts, like tonight I putting the younger or weeker plants inside the shed. I may use termometer to check if the soil keeping warm :) |
