steeping tablets
Hi everyone, hope this doesn't sound like a stupid question but here goes anyway. Does anybody have any suggestions for using the steeping tablets that come with marrowfat peas. I only ever use one tablet when steeping the small pack-not everyone in the house likes them, and just wondering if there are any other uses instead of just throwing them away. The main ingredient is sodium carbonate.

Hi
I suppose they can be used on tough cabbage to help soften it. My Dad uses breadsoda for that it seem to be the same stuff.

re steeping tablets
Hiya
The tablets are bicarbonate of soda and can be used for cleaning fridges / microwaves / freezers. Dissolve them in a little hot water and use to wipe down, or even leave them in the fridge solid to absorb smells. I don't use them in peas myself - or any veg - as the bicarb destroys the Vitamin C. I find those marrowfats cook fine anyway, they just need an overnight soak - and tough cabbage will soften nciely if you steam rather than boil it! Rua |
steeping tablet
Drop it into the loo last thing at night and leave overnight to remove lime.
