engine oil on gable wall
HI Sky
I was telling a friend of mine about your problem and he being a painter told me that if you wash the wall thourghly where the oil is you can then apply a substance called ESP sealer.. then paint your wall as normal.. but you must give the gable wall a really really good clean down first... hope it helps.... greenmag1 |
Thanks Mag
Hi Mag, we have so far power washed it and it looks even worse! God what a mess! A painter we know gave advice along the same lines as your friend. He said it would probably take an oil based undercoat to seal it and then a few coats of the usual emulsion. He said to do a test patch down low to see how it turns out. I wonder if the oil undercoat is the same type of thing as the ESP sealer your friend mentioned. I will try to find out before we do any more damage.

wall stains
Try stone-ex. it is a concrete cleaner, acid based. Just do a little a time and leave to soak. Hose off. Wear gloves and I find a spray bottle for application works best
