removing the smell of damp from a sofa
 

does anyone have any idea how to do this? have tried washing it with shaving foam but no luck. any ideas appreciated. thanks

A cut onion is very good for absorbing smells as is bread soda. For carpets if you sprinkle bread soda on them leave for a little while and then hoover off it takes away smells so it should work for a sofa. Fresh air is brilliant too so you could leave the cushions outside and it should help. Another tip is tumble dryer sheets like bounce. Unzip a cushion if it persists and put one inside. I have a spare box of them if you like I can pop it in the post to you as I very rarely use my tumble dryer.

By shaving foam do you mean textile foamwash? Because Tesco has a spray can with textile wash. It's kept with their car stuff, but obviously works just as well on all furniture. I've used it on both a mattress and a sofa, and it works a treat and smells citrusy, but not in an owerpowering way, just fresh. Get's rid of stains as well. You spray it on, rub it in with a sponge, wait until it's dry and then vacuum up the residue powder. I've tried breadsoda as well, but I find that it is hard to get it all away when you vacuum.

hi there, just wondering have you tried just washing it down with fabric softener?? dont soak it, just damp cloth with some in a bowl, might help.
or the other brands of fabric spray might work. Fresh air would be good like other lady said. Hope you find something to help. :)

I had a similar problem and found johnsons baby powder solved it for me.
