Restoring a Fire Pit to its former glory
 

Hi all

Would anyone have any tips on restoring a Fire Pit?
Mine is usable, but the cover is extremely rusty.
Would anyone know of a paint or some sort of treatment I could put on it that would be safe for use with fire.

I wouldn't want my next BBQ to go up in flames!!

Hi there, not sure what a fire pit is exactly--imagine it is some sort of barbeque. Try Stove Black, which is a stove paint that is heat resistant. Works on hot stove pipes etc. in the house. Comes in a small tin, from hardware, not too expensive, just prepare the surface with wire brush or coarse sandpaper to remove any loose debris, and lash on the stove black!! Cheers, eibhlin.

I might even take a before and after picture and put it on JT!

There's also a spray on one for stoves that you get in Woodies. Ronseal, I think.

If anyone sees a rust covered weirdo there, it'll be me! After having cleaned the damn thing!

I needed to clean and smarten my BBQ so I sanded the rust off, cleaned it with white spirits and used a BBQ spray I bought in B&Q. It looks almost as good as new. Good luck with the fire pit.
