We got ours sand blasted and then they dipped them - a fabulous job - so recommended. We also got an old fire place done and they painted it in black - everyone remarks on it - best of luck

It sounds exactly like mine when the bearing went. I kept it like this for a while until brown stuff appeared on the clothes, and then had to bite the dust.

I looked at the cost of repairing ie €70...

What about cutting the top off an old hot tank (copper) and planting it - it will go green with age and will make a feature in itself
