It looks great, I too love old furniture with a history.
I usually line drawers with normal gift wrapping paper or scraps of wall paper.
At this time of year I'd also say shops have a lot of paper for wrapping school books? I remember when I was a child in the 80s many of those papers were waxed, which makes them even more durable as drawer liners.
(I actually went mad and bought scented drawer liners in Laura Ashley, but they are square, too small for your purpose, and waay too dear.
Wrapping paper+ one of those scented soaps that's too fancy to use will do the same trick...)
