I used to spend a fortune on buying annuals such as pansies each year for my hanging baskets but in the last couple of years I have grown strawberries in my hanging baskets instead which not only saves me money but also gives me something nice to eat & I can cut off the runners at the end of each season & plant them which gives me free new strawberry plants!
