Hi Mandy, I varnished a wood veneer press that i had an it looked beautiful but didnt take long for the varnish to start coming off in little bits kind of like the top of a chip pan when it badly needs cleaning so i wouldnt reccomend it. But if you go into a good hardware or paint shop they should be able to reccomend a paint if you wanted to change the colour altogether as there seems to be a paint for everything now.
