tiles for fire surround

advice.
everything is looking really good, i painted the dark wood surround satin white and the shape really sings.
the colour in the sitting room is duck egg blue, for calm see :) and i just dont know what colour to put into the tile area.
also thinking of covering over the old tiles rather than remove them.
i have been back and forth to 'fired earth' and really cannot get a combo i like.
this is maddening me. as there is a lot of trinkets and artwork i am thinking of a sort of modern mottled simple tile, but what?
any suggestions please.....
