That's disgusting, I thought you paid the recycling fee when you bought the electrical items! So then you will be paying twice! |

![]() Hmmm, someone seems to be making some money out of that then?
It's not exactly encouraging people to recycle their old stuff, it is more likely encouraging people to dump it! |

![]() looks that way alright but this is an *official* recycling centre as in not a private one!so it seems if you want to put your bottles etc in recycling you have to pay for it.l use this place for my grass (way to much to have it all composted) guess l,ll have to let my grass grow a little longer between cuts now

Why not bring it to the attention of the local radio station and their researchers can investigate and name and shame if they are found to be acting outside of the WEEE regulations that were set up by much wiser and wonderful beings than us... Or even the papers - then ask the local county council what the rules are as well |

![]() The charge you pay for these products means that you have a certain length of time to bring in the old applicance to the shop with your receipt (I think). Basically you buy a new microwave then you have say 4 weeks to bring the old microwave into the shop and they dispose of it for you. I think what that shower are doing is ridiculous and definitely I'd be naming and shaming. Good luck with it.
Aaaaagh - Cavalin I've just seen where you're from so I presume you're using the facility just outside Cavan town are you? If so that means I'll be facing the same thing. :-( |

As far as I'm aware, all retailers of electrical items are obliged by law to take back recycled old/broken items if they sell the same product, that's the whole reason for the charge in the first place. The shop where you buy your new product has to take the old one from you, or if you are not buying a new product take the old one back to where you purchased it. They are not allowed to refuse you. |
