![]() Anyone got any advice re dyeing a linen shirt. Originally white (now off white after lots of wear), I would like to dye it red or blue if possible. I love the shirt & only want to dye it if I know I can wear it afterwards!!
Tks, PTC |

![]() Hi
I have dyed curtains in the washing machine quite successfully you have to add salt as well to the machine and make sure you put the machine on for 2 empty washes afterwards to wipe all traces of dye. The brand of dye normally sold is dylon have a look on their website http://www.dylon.co.uk/ and you will probably find everything you need to know. Hope this helps Sparkwell |

![]() I used dylon machine dyes to do jeans, tshirts socks and shirts without any trouble at all. It won't dye anything thats not cotton, I remember doing something and the stitching stayed white..... Just follow the instructions and in the final wash only as hot as the garment states.
If it's just gone sort of brownish have you tried soaking in a bucket of hotwater and lemon juice (from real lemons not a bottle) overnight? |

![]() Hi Gormal,
Approx how many lemons would you use..I may try this first...I really like the fact that shirt is white & would be happier keeping it that way. Tks, PTC |

![]() juice of 2 lemons and just enough water to soak and cover the shirt. Leave it overnight and wash as normal. And if there are brown patches you can put the juice directly onto the stains. I've used this on my discoloured whites and it brought them back to life.
Hope this works for you. |
